Whirlpool (2012)

Latest:

Returning from a disappointing 3-run spring campaign, Whirlpool followed an impressive trial win with an emphatic win on a heavy track at Benalla on 28/04/2017. Racing wide on the speed, Whirlpool took command on turning and with her ears-pricked she ran home a comfortable winner. It was a win that indicated Whirlpool would soon be contesting and winning races of a far higher grade.

Whirlpool brought up her 2nd win of the campaign with a last-to-first win at Wangaratta on 22nd of June, 2017.  Whirlpool - ridden like the best horse in the race by Linda Meech - circled the field wide out and came away to win by a half-length.

On the 28th of June, 2017, Whirlpool brought up her 3rd win of this campaign and her 4th career win from 14 starts with a comfortable 3/4 length win at Sandown Hillside. Emulating her win last start Wangaratta win, Linda Meech had Whirlpool sitting wide but travelling smoothly and she cruised up to the leaders on turning for home and proved far too strong for her rivals. This was a welcome metropolitan win for the very talented stakes-placed mare.

History:

Whirlpool, by Sebring out of El Tornedo, started her 2nd preparation a more mature filly and was responsible for a stunning last-to-first win at Pakenham over 1200m on the 10th of April, 2016.

Whirlpool was a $120,000 purchase at the 2014 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale. She is a half-sister to the stakes-placed White Diamonds and from a winning sister to the outstanding racehorse Alfa, winner of the VATC Caulfield Guineas.

It is anticipated that Whirlpool will quickly rise to a much higher level of success.

Update:

As suggested (above) just a few weeks earlier, Whirlpool has risen from a Maiden winner to stakes-placed when she was a very impressive 2nd to Antelucan in the Listed 2016 Adelaide Guineas (1600m) at Morphettville on the 14th of May, 2016. A black-type winning performance can't be far away.
